DCM worked with a local non-profit to improve the economic opportunities of Camden’s unemployed residents through job training. DCM repurposed two abandoned warehouses into a culinary arts school and an automobile technology-training center. The project also included commercial spaces and a daycare, all built on a very limited budget. Due to the project location and at the client’s request, no windows were added to the facade. To bring in natural light and maintain security, DCM designed tubular daylighting devices on the roof, flooding the space with daylight without compromising the facilities’ security. New energy recovery ventilators use the rejected heat from the food preparation equipment to preheat the incoming fresh air.
