Restoration of Prospect Beach

In October 2012, Hurricane Sandy hit the Northeast coast of the United States, devastating the beaches and recreational areas of Connecticut. The US Army Corps of Engineers New England District contracted DCM to replenish a mile plus strip of coastline with 254,000 tons of sand. We utilized 3,500 trucks to transport the sand to the beach, an enormous task that took 7,500 trips in all.Restoring these beaches to their former characteristics required complex logistics; weekly aerial surveys were conducted to determine exactly where the refill sand needed to be installed in what specified amounts.
